wobuffet
Just wondered if anybody knows whether Congo Tetras are schoaling fish like all of the smaller breeds of Tetras? I thought I'd be alright with just two (they're quite big, and a bit pricey, hence why I only have two), and they're really beautiful fish, but I very rarely see them out in my tank. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks ~w~
Alan
Short answer Yes. But use your pair, (make sure you get a pair,) and breed your own school. Sell the surplus. Alan

Alan
Check out the tails They are very different. Males are larger too, all things being equal. Alan
wobuffet
Thanks for the help Alan, much appreciated. I will check the tails today. Would there be a difference in colour between the sexes as well? ~w~
Alan
As with most males of species. They are a brighter color. If you go for breeding them, they are egg scaterers and also avid egg eaters. So precautions must be taken, and the corect plants, or traps used to hold and/or preserve the eggs Alan
steve slack
hey are they easy 2 breed? cheers
Alan
Apparently Steve But one way of finding out is to check the BREEDING part of this forum Maybe no one likes trying them. A very nice, one of the larger, tetras. Alan
wobuffet
Alan, I noticed that their tails were a little different, but they both look really bright, so I'm assuming they're both males, unless they're just exceptionally healthy?? ~w~

Caryl
Here is a couple of males. See the pointy bit in the middle of the tails? Females don't have that. Their tails are round.
agoh
I have six of these, they are very beautiful under the correct light conditions, I truely recommend they are housed in a large tank with a crowd...then you will see something great! ps: yes, pretty expensive fish but worth the sight, they look great at night in my room
