Aaron-Betta Posted April 29, 2012 Report Share Posted April 29, 2012 Hi all, at the moment I am doing a bit of a trial at home due to limited space. I have three identical tanks with weir type overflows between each. I am taking water from the left tank, through the canister filter and into the right tank, which overflows into the middle tank, then overflows back into the left tank. This setup has worked for a while now, but I was wondering if when I add another tank to this setup, will it need a timeframe to cycle, or because it would be flowing water from the other tanks and i'm just topping up the setup with fresh water as I would for a waterchange, could i add fish to it immediatley? blueether Posted April 29, 2012 Report Share Posted April 29, 2012 You are just adding volume to the system in reality, Any new fish may/will cause a small ammonia spike as the microorganisms catch up to the bio-load, just like adding new fish to any system.
