henward
These flowerhorns are literally 3 to 3.5 inches MAX. Here is a vid of the flowerhorn chasing away the other 2 and making a nest, a little dance too. Here is just a vid of the male one, up close to show colours. Have no idea what strain of flowerhorn it is, but seems like this is way better, shinier and colourfull than any of the currently existing stock!! surprised to see the males forehead developing from such a young age, i dont want it to be extremely disproportionate like some asian strains, but i do want it to be extremely prominent. henward
surprised with them too. i got 4, 1 is really ugly, dark colour and very little blue. the other odd female is very nice, you can see on the vid, smaller but very very bright female. the male and female pairing up has very 'holographic' blue colour and a slight red base. but i believe the 2 that im gonna keep will improve in age. the forehead of the male is startig to get the silky blue as well, quite excited. I may seriously consider keeping them together and breeding them. see what comes out and what they look like. maybe line breeding will be in order lol

Fruju
This pair might be able to produce thai silk strain given time, have some kickass blue colouration. Def should breed them.
henward
This pair might be able to produce thai silk strain given time, have some kickass blue colouration. Def should breed them. been looking more into that. thai silk strain has no black spots, its a pure blue silk colour. hence thai silk strain:D ... anyways. given time, i do agree, i believe you can create such a beast. i have seen one on hff albany, no spots at all, pure blue colour, but not solid like the thai silk (whcih is like a blue diamond colouration but on a fh) i agree, i think it is a worthy pursuit... henward
I have just been told that it looks like this fh strain is a THai silk x strain!!! lol good call fraser! anyhow, if that is the case, whcih after inspecting mine and thai silk. it looks like a cross indeed - carries similar traits.. I think i could definiately get a thai slk strain out of this with some good line breeding. we shall see.
Fruju
Few generations in selective breeding and you should be able to generate a uniform silk colour I reckon. Could be worth the effort, High quality Fh's have high market prices overseas, NZ market would be small, but even so it would be a fun project. henward
when you say high market prices, its still very cheap. I just saw a filipino ad for some nice 'state of the art' new strains. FH strains are a funny one, there really isnt any distinct ones, they change all the time! i mean, constantly. but the best ones, could sell for no more than 80 to 100 nzd. alot by asian standards but still not like arowanas. i guess its cos of their breeding patter, prilific in nature. yeah, i think i may try to get a thai silk out of them. pure blue.
