hey my dwarf puffer is a fully grown male and was fine till 5 days ago he went totally pail and was not swimming, i put him into my other tank and he recovered some color he has and is still hyperventilating with gills and mouth open and can only swim for a small amount of time before he floats to the bottom, i have given him a tonic salt bath as informed and little has changed, but have noticed the problem is his ( lungs ) the things that inflate when scared, he inflated and deflated fine as a breeder told me as a last resort to try and he has gained his old self back as well as color and can swim longer while the rest still is the same, the lungs have deflated and breathing a little slower

can anyone help? have suggestions? or know what is wrong ?

can post pics if it helps

a inflated puffer is bad. They are not supposed to puff, just because they are called pufferfish does not mean they must puff. A puffer fish that puffed and is unable to deflate itself will die. So please explain to us whether he is puffed or not. I have heard of many cases of puffers puffing and not being unalble to deflate, its not good. Puffers usually puff up a little during the time they try to get the attention of each other when sexually mature, but for others reasons and huge puffing its not good. What temp do you keep them at, mine is at 26 degrees and I found that on hot days if the temp raised higher they would go low down in the tank and hide in a cave. Your puffer sounds stressed, where is the tank is it where there is too much movement, how is your water, is that all good. You will need to give us much more details please
