henward
i hear that snake neck turtles are really aquatic turtles and dont need basking space and can be fully aquatic, is this true?
mcrudd
From everything I have learned from Donna, I would not agree with that. She has snakeheads and they all have basking areas, and at Butterflyworld I think I saw some and they also had basking areas. But the right person to ask would be Donna. mcrudd
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_snakeneck_turtle http://www.chelonia.org/Articles/easternlongneck.htm http://www.turtlepuddle.org/exotics/chelodina.html http://www.ehow.com/how_8704566_care-snakenecked-turtle.html All the above links say a basking area should be supplied. They need vitamin d and need to dry out during basking time. So I would say its a must
repto
I have seen wild ones basking,i have also seen wild ones with an inch of green fluffy algae covering their backs so they must have spent little time out of the water??have a spot for them,if they want it ,they will use it.
