blueether
I'm happy enough with the bio filtration of my aquaone CF1200 on my 400 l native tank, but I would like more mechanical filtration (fine particles and not so fine gunk) , or at least a higher throughput of water through the CF1200 (also running a chiller inline). What would you good folks suggest? 1. running another pump inline 1a. and also running the CF1200's pump 1b. and removing the impeller from the CF1200 What sized pump would you recommend 2000, 3000 or 5000 lpm? 2. running another pump with an inline filter ((for mechanical filtration) of some sort 2a. like a DIY inline canister 2b. like a pro inline canister 3. any other thoughts? Navarre
Mechanical filtration works on slower water movement so a sump or extra filter might be the answer
kiwiplymouth
I vote 2b Its always good to have a second independent system when it comes to filtration, heating etc
b16a2
at fist u'll think im being an idiot but it honestly works a charm aye as im doing it on my four foot tank. just get one of those cheap blueplanet tankmaid internal filters, the largest one apparently flows 1000l/hr. i took all 3 compartments apart and broke off all the bottom grid bits making it one whole chamber/compartment and then just stuff it full of filter wool. only needs changing like every fortnight and its easy as to change the wool, there cheap to buy as well. i really noticed the difference aye, no more tiny little particles anywhere. henward
if youc an afford the spac ein the tank, a cheap internal is awsome, pick sup a lot of gunk and very effective, cheap to run and cheap to buy. Remember, the money you spend extra on a fluval internal or eheim would be made up quickly by the efficiency of watt usage ... they are beter than cheaper chinese brands. i wouldnt go for an inline, its over kill... blueether
I was thinking of inline type pump/filter because I could do with the extra flow in the tank
