stacey cunningham Posted October 3, 2011 Report Share Posted October 3, 2011 hi guys Iv been having troubles with discus fry that get to about 3-4 weeks old then die? basically i do a 30% water change twice a day, 50/50 tap and R/O. The fry tanks are regularly vacuumed and cleaned so water parameters are pristine.(so not the water) They are being fed 3-4 times a day BBS Flake and beef mix. Basically what happens is they go dark breath rapidly but still eat then by the next morning they are dead. My first spawn consisted of 80-100 fry, now 3 left. second spawn by different pair 180+ fry now 40 and dropping everyday. fry arnt showing signs of any illness they just die. but the thing i dont understand is nothing dies untill 3-4 weeks. Discusguru Posted October 4, 2011 Report Share Posted October 4, 2011 I would say it's flukes that is killing them. Keep treating them with prazi.Try to feed with live bbs if possible. I have never tried the flake but live should be better, I think. Talking about water hardness. Is the water in NZ very soft generally? My ph do fluctuate and I stabilise them with salt.
