reptilez
hi...i am looking at purchasing an RODI unit..i want one that works well and isn't too expensive.. some options... http://www.trademe.co.nz/home-living/kitchen/water-coolers-filters/auction-410726305.htm would something like that work ? or http://www.trademe.co.nz/business-farming-industry/industrial/compressors-pumps/pumps/auction-411610675.htm if you know of any others that are cheap ,please let me know...thanks
the-obstacle
The first one is only a cartridge filter, not an RO filter. The second one has the RO membrane and looks good. The filler tank means you can leave it constantly plumbed in and it will fill the tank (very slowly) when it needs it.
Ira
The second definitely looks like the better of the two... The first from the description and the pic it LOOKS like it has an RO, but then it says 1 sediment filter and 2 carbon filters. Unless that "Post carbon filter" is an RO. buzzy
first one doesnt look like a ro unit just the carbon filters, the second unit is a ro but not a rodi unit, as it has no DI cartridge have a look at http://www.filters.co.nz they sell good RODI units, i think there are under the other section, then click on aquarium filters. I think the AP777 is the normal RODI unit sold
Ira
first one doesnt look like a ro unit just the carbon filters, the second unit is a ro but not a rodi unit, as it has no DI cartridge That's just a cartridge change anyway, getting the housings is really the important part, not really so much the expendables inside them. Zayne
thats all up the second one would be easier to get parts, but doesnt produce as much water as the other one
Zayne
i have also heard you can get a second ro membrane and have that attached to the waste water, to get a bit more clean water
spoon
well the first one is no go get the second one and re plumb it then buy di resin and replace the granular carbon with di resin neither of the ones you looked at have di resin which is an important part otherwise you will never get a TDS=0 reading from it you will also want the DI resin to be after the RO part. the post RO filter dosent really have any effect for fishkeeping purposes and could be binned
