Reverse osmosis filters.

I know peol use them for tap water to tank.

can you run a reverse osmosis unit for the tank water itself?

will it filter out nitrates? Amonia and Nitrite?

was thinking running one in my tank, so just cleans the tank water.

not even sure if its possible:D just bored at work and juggling ideas

Ok, thats out of the question then:D posted a duckweed idea:D

i guess im in a drive to be more sustainable and economical

Also for a FW you might as well just use rainwater. A little less pure than RO/DI but more than pure enough. Not really quite good enough for marine.

If you ran a RODI unit on your tank, you would purify all your tank water then you would end up with a whole heap of sick fish (HITH etc) from having no minerals in the water.. Only way to do it would be to be adding trace elements at the same rate and somehow compensating for the amount of water that was going to waste.
