I don't see any obvious reasons why not. It says it's pressurised so it shouldn't leak and static head height won't be an issue, just like any normal cannister filter. You'll just need to add maybe $150 for a good pump onto it. But then you're close to the cost of a good cannister anyway.

As Ira said, by the time you buy a suitable pump and all the plumbing you may as well just buy a canister filter. One thing to consider with pond filters is that ponds are [usually] a lot lighter stocked than aquariums, so a pond filter recommended for a 2000L would not be enough to filter a 2000L aquarium.

ok..will proobably invest in an aquarium filter instead due to being that it adds up to the same price as a pond filter..
