smidey
you can double dose flourish excel and a siamese algae eater should help i wouldn't recommend double dosing, that seems to end in disaster. I dosed as directed to get rid of my BBA.

oO SKIPPY Oo
i wouldn't recommend double dosing, that seems to end in disaster. I dosed as directed to get rid of my BBA. ive had issues when putting the flourish excel directly into the tank as the fish seem to think its food so swim straight into a concentrated mix - but ive had no issues when ive been mixing it in a bucket of water first. Adrienne
works really well if you use a syringe and squirt it directly on to the algae.
opticalblue
so to get rid of black beard just add squirt it straight onto the black beard?
oO SKIPPY Oo
as long as the fish dont come and investigate - that was how i lost my fish

oO SKIPPY Oo
what do you mean - lost your fish? Did you squirt them directly? no i was squirting the plants but the stupid fish came and swam through the flourish - it was still quite concentrated around the plant
Caryl
The original Blackbeard was shot 5x and stabbed repeatedly before finally being decapitated Just sayin' :dunno: :slfg: Sorry I think of the pirate every time I see this thread  :smot:
Adrienne
Sorry to hear that. Perhaps next time net them down the other end of the tank. Honestly, it is the best way to kill it off. It takes mine 2 days if squirted straight on.
livebearer_breeder
Isn't flourish excel a fertiliser designed for aquarium plants? I didn't think it got rid of algae, my understanding was that it adds nutrience to help your other plants grow, more growth in your aquarium plants means less left over nutrience for the algae to feed on and eventually it starves? As they will both compete for nutrience. Lowering your lights on times and getting the right colour spectrum of light can also do the same thing no? or am i completly wrong? This would mean that squirting flourish directly onto algae is probably doing nothing accept feeding the algaE?
alanmin4304
It is an available source of carbon instead of CO2, not a general fertilizer but it also has algacidal properties. Flourish comprehensive is the fertilizer.
