Deepsound
So let me get this straight - I have been watching the saltwater threads for a while and this looks like you have no filter/sump/skimmer ?? Do you get fresh seawater for the water change? And are you going to put some critters in? Sorry Sophia, I didn't see your post ! That's right Check this about DSB method : - http://www.ronshimek.com/deep_sand_beds.html I'd like to add some sponges (I'm fascinated by. These are incredible organisms !) and cerianthus. Or shrimps and little gobidae as eviotas, trimma cana and so.
Deepsound
Could be wrong but i think you need to do some more research. My previous one - http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=45731 And my previous "previous" one which was my first one in 2009: http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=45633 (weekly water changes for this one cause it's not a DSB)
puttputt
Should have searched your name, would seen your old tanks, nice to see, look forward to the tank maturing,
Fishie123
Nice looking tank. Wish I have the money and time to get a marine.
the-obstacle
This is definitely my cup of tea. I love the different sea weeds. It looks more like what we see out snorkelling and diving in the gulf which is what I'm used to. I'd love a marine tank setup with different sea weeds, a crayfish and a couple of blue cod or schnapper or something else equally replicating the north island waters. (yes I know, we have local corals etc. but I don't pay enough attention to them when I'm diving.)
Caryl
Sorry Deepsound, I forgot the language difference. Yes, oomph means energy 8)
Deepsound
Thanks Caryl This one seemed to me so "weird". I mean it looks like an onomatopoeia 8) @Fishie123 : with this method, it is not so expensive. the-obstacle : "It looks more like what we see out snorkelling and diving in the gulf". Thanks ! That's exactly what I'm trying to reach. @puttputt : your advice are precious. The most important thing in that kind of project is patience. suphew
just wondering here why add a skimmer when their is no creatures apart from seaweed in their? i remember on someother post that someone said no need for a skimmer if you do not have any fish to maintain? I skimmer wouldn't hurt because there will be some hitchiker critters, plus I'm sure some are likely to be added, but you are correct if he's not needing to add food to the tank he wont need to skim the waste back out.
