Joe
You shouldn't have much trouble getting those then - they're very common, and only cost about $10 each
waterlogged
so you guys reckon just 2 pairs? man now i have to choose
Joe
In a 300L densely-planted tank you could probably fit 5 pairs of steel blues or more if you're lucky I think you should get a pair of Agassiziis, two pairs of Laetacara curviceps and then a couple of pairs of Macmasteri and some German Blue Rams or some steel blues
waterlogged
lol i got 6 angels so prob not that many. swapping some gbas for some kribs. thinking of steel blue and then maybe Macmasteri. if i didn't have the angels i'd get some spotlight rams and some Laetacara curvicep

waterlogged
Hey on the topic my mum has just offered me her 2 sae and about 10-15 ember teras as she's downsizing to a 30L. was wondering if that is going to be to many fish? just under 300L turned over 4 times an hour would have (proposed stocking) 6 angels 8+ panda cories 5 SAE 5 GBAs 6 Black window tetras 10-15 ember tetras 2 wild kribs 2 Macmasteri 2 Apistogramma sp. Steel Blue (not deff on dwarf types just proposed so far) big peice of wood in the centre and lost of hiding/dark places
the-obstacle
Seems a lot but if the filtration is good shouldn't be a killer. I would have thought you'd want more than 4 times the tank size an hour for a fully stocked tank though. Should be ok though. Give it a go and be prepared to add another cannister to the tank if required.
waterlogged
might just leave it at 3 SAE and the 2 Kribs for now
waterlogged
So an update on the cichlid situation. I have just sold my 300L and got a 445L (thanks mell). So far stocking will be; 4 silver angels 2 veiltail rams 5 mzcmasteri 6 black widow tetras 3 SAE 1 zodiac loach 20 ish Panda corys 4 Tri corys 3 golden bristle noses 1 spotlight bristle nose and 2 Mystery blue apple snails (if my loach doesn't go for them) I am wanting to get (eventually) 3-4 steel blue Borelli whiptails and a few small plecos more tri corys 1-3 more silver angels 2 SAE and 1-2 zodiac loach. Have only got the one light at the moe so will need more for the plants Filtration: sunsun 1200L/h, temp. Unimax 250 and 1200L/h internal till I get a bigger external. thinking I will plant it out with mostly swords, java/windelov fern, anubis and dwarf sad with some small crypts and stems plants. If I have enough filtration will this be an ok stocking? I will upgrade the filters before I got more fish

waterlogged
can't fit a 4ft but can a 6ft lol. Yea I got a big room this yea so good excuse. I'll worry bout moving into a small room when it happens. What would you guys recommend as a mininum water turn over in the fully stocked tank? critter_crazy
I had a big room for 10 years but we moved a couple of months ago and now my room is tiny. I think it's mums way of encouraging me to move out :slfg: I'm still a newbie but being a bookworm from what I've read 6x is good and 10x is great. The more filtration the better
the-obstacle
pics or it didn't happen :slfg: I'd aim for 10x turnover but be happy if it fell a little short due to head height of pumps etc.
Joe
Wow that list is quite nice. Although I think that 6 black widows isn't enough schooling fish. Maybe get a group of Black Neons or Cardinals as well (like about 50 or so)? Or even some little rainbow fish? At least something nice and colourful that is always swimming about
waterlogged
well I want to see how the rest goes first. I will probably get more widows andsome ember tetras. Don't want anything to eyecatching.
