bdspider
At Antwans house (Riccarton) he hasn't been, it doesn't smell like chlorine. At mine in Shirley and Donna's in Spreydon, it stinks like a swimming pool! You can use well water if you don't want to buy dechlorinater. eg from South Intermediate School. Lots of schools seem to have wells, rather than be on public supply. Beware if you go to South, I got some horrible itchy mosquito bites on my ankles from all the people spilling the water  They are so itchy it wakes me up at night. MarkLB
I'm in Phillipstown and sometimes I can smell chlorine but most of the time I can't. I would still use a de-chlorinater to be on the safe side. I have a well if you want to get some water from here.
Jennifer
I read this on the Chch City Council website a couple of days ago. You really know it when you are chlorinated as the smell is very strong. Water restrictions are still in place in Christchurch. Please continue to minimise your water use: Do not water your garden or clean your vehicles Have a quick shower Only use your dishwasher when it’s full Only use your washing machine when you have a full load Minimise toilet flushing. There are a number of leaks in the city’s reservoirs and water pipes, which is leading to a decrease in water supplies. Water has been restored to all Christchurch properties except for the Red Zone within the CBD. If any residents are still without water, they should phone 03 941 8999. Twenty-five chlorination units have been installed and are operating in areas of the city where water infrastructure has been badly damaged. Both chlorinated and non-chlorinated water must be brought to a boil before drinking and food preparation. Boiling chlorinated or storing it an open vessel in the refrigerator will reduce the smell and taste of chlorine in drinking water. There are 61 temporary water supply sites around Christchurch. suphew
Personally I'd use a water ager, they also take out heavy metals etc, with all the disturbance to the water system theres bound to by lots of nasties in the water.
