Fruju
I was going to make a post about this as well, man queensland is in the poo. First the flooding now this, not only social factors influenced but the economy is taking a hammering. Ironic that they are always complaining about drought, now they have an absolute deluge that is more of a problem than a fix. Lets hope it doesn't take any lives. SamH
Just seen the latest on Breakfast, winds of 290 apparently! I'm assuming it's km/h but they didn't say. More powerful than hurricane Katrina too
phoenix44
A Cat 5 is as bad as it gets. Winds are upto 300km/hr at its worst. It will soon be downgraded to a Cat 3. Isn't strong enough for a Cat 5.
SamH
It has been downgraded, a while ago actually.
supasi
A Cat 5 is as bad as it gets. Winds are upto 300km/hr at its worst. It will soon be downgraded to a Cat 3. Isn't strong enough for a Cat 5. Cyclones will always downgrade when they hit land. They are fed by warm moist air which means when the cyclone hits land the fuel starts to run out and it gets smaller. Live footage is now showing flattened Banana plantations. Expect prices of Nanas to go up in the next 12 months as the supply will be short. As the sun is coming up more damage is being shown. supasi
Live news stream from 7 news as they travel to the main places to investigate. http://au.tv.yahoo.com/sunrise/video/-/watch/23310266/ They have a reporter streaming live via Skype as he tried to get to Tully where the eye first hit land. Coming up against flooding and downed trees and buildings etc. I have been watching since first light and I watched until it hit last night and power went out to most. Been a bit of an eye opener or my first day of my holiday.
