HummingBird
Does anyone know of any other names for 'Red Spot Plecostomus'? I've looked around on the net and can't find any. There's one for sale on Trademe and I'm considering getting it.
HummingBird
I saw that Pleco, saw your username and figured you were the same person It looks pretty good, but then again I'll say that about most Plecos
HummingBird
They're one of my favourite types of fish too. Funny that you mention bristlenoses, I'm getting 5 of them tommorow 8)
HummingBird
Just babies, I'm getting them at $1 each
HummingBird
Yeah they're on Trademe, but don't tell anyone: I gave the seller my email and we're going outside Trademe because I wanted to pick them up tommorow and the auction ends next week These ones are 3-5.cm apparently. How fast did yours grow (did you buy them little)?
HummingBird
As opposed to when they're bigger!
Brianemone
have you seen a big bristle nose?? i think they are one of the ugliest fish around, but when they are little they are cute a nice redspot on the other hand
Caryl
Do you mean Pterygoplichthys gibbiceps? Also known as red sailfin plec.
HummingBird
Do you mean Pterygoplichthys gibbiceps? Also known as red sailfin plec. The auction is for a 'Red Spot Plecostomus' - that's all the info I've got :-? Thanks for the info though, hopefully it is one of them cause they look sweet! Brianemone
hypostomus plecostomus?
Ira
Hypostomus plecostomus is the common pleco. Totally different fish than a redspot. Do a search for gibbiceps or sailfin pleco. You'll never find redspot pleco because NZ it seems is the only place that calls them that.
HummingBird
Ah ok, thanks Ira. The same thing happens with Axolotls, apparently here and Australia are the only places where they're called "Mexican walking fish"
Brianemone
looks fairly similair to me, ive noticed a trend recently in the lfs where the "common" pleco is labbeled a redspot pleco
