Arowana Tanning

Philosophical debates regarding the "worthiness" and "beauty" of each fish aside, is it worthwhile tanning a jardini? Of course, its colours will never be as brilliant as the reds or the golds, but will tanning improve things? Or is it not worth the effort and electricity to run the lighting?

Just wanted to get some information before the aquaria-shopaholic inside me releases the Visa.. (again) :nilly:

There will not be much if any difference in tanning a jardini.

But in saying that, all fish change colour with the sun.

that is the principle of tanning

Some believe tanning silvers work and darkens some tones.

but in saying that, is it worth it.

I dont believe tanning a jar will make a difference as its generallya lready dark unless you get one tahts very silver.

i think you can either put light or dark substrate to lighten or darkne the colour to your desire.

Thanks for the input.. I've heard stories (myths??) of silvers in ponds turning slightly purple from exposure to the sun, but I don't think I want to spend so much money running UV lighting just to experiment on a jar if the results are doubtful at best haha.
