5ft BD Viv update PICS

Ive been a busy bunny last few days, working on renovating Yodas enclosure.

I removed the silica sand and replaced with lino tiles - although the lino doesnt do squat for keeping claws trim, its tidy, and a doddle to clean. he skates around on it too...

Also upgraded the lighting - was using a exo terra large clamp lamp with a 5.0 26w compact, due to it being a long enclosure, the clamp lamp pretty much supplied light to the basking area at the warm end only. so today went to HFF and got a 3ft aquaone light hood, and now running a 30w exo terra 10.0 tube - most notably the light is a different colour, a cool blue almost like an actinic, rather than the warm yellow of the previous light. distance from the light to the floor is 50cm - the max rated distance for the UV, and created him a longer raised area to bask. mounted the light hood with some hooks screwed into the lid and some thick auto cable, seems sturdy, and the wire doesnt slip - will have to monitor it though to ensure it doesnt detiorate from the heat - id hate the whole unit to drop on the fella.

The light hood enabled me to shield my moonlight bulb - its a 25w P10 exo terra night glo that i have on all night, and its quite bright when you wake up at night and its in your face!

Also got new thermometers and a hygrometer on order (the exo terra dial ones) as i dont like the messy wires of a probe thermometer.

and ive got a zoomed hammock and ladder coming too, cant wait :)

Thinking about going to stone and water world to see if i can build a nice rockwork raised area right across the back, but thatll have to wait.
