Would be helpful to know what size tank are you going to put it into, and other tank mates the cichlid will live with. Have you got soft or hard water, planted............think that's all for a start :lol:

2 and a half foot and will be alone im wanting to set up a cichlid tank

Cichlid is a very broad term, perhaps you could be a little more specific to help us help you

For a tank around that size, I'd have to suggest the T-Bar cichlid (A. sajica). They're pretty uncommon tho, maybe Rob could help you out if he still has a breeding pair...
