hovmoller
About a year ago I bought a few Anubias barteri var. nana. They looked like this: Now they have been through a few setups and now only grow very short and with much smaller leaves like this: So my question is: What affects their length/leaf size? They have been in the same tank all along (Juwel Rio 300 with 2 Juwel T5's Daylight and Nature)
supasi
Most likely it was grown emersed before you bought it. The smaller growth is typical of submersed growth.

DennisP
I did the same thing, cut off the small shoots and replanted them. They do get bigger eventually. Well the new leaves that grow do.
FuglyDragon
light level seems to effect leaf size too, more light = larger leaves
Zev
I agree with FuglyDragon, I have a barteri var. nana petite that had sub 10mm leaves in a very low light situation, now it is placed higher in a tank with more lighting and the leaves are about 25mm long - about the same size as my barteri var. nana at the bottom of the tank :-? phoenix44
I would have expected the opposite to happen. Weird.
