dwarf puffers with cichlids?

Snails are starting to become a problem in my tank (and since we aren't allowed assassin snails in the country) and I don't want to go adding chemicals to the tank unless I really have too. I would rather drop my pH a little and add these guys. I know that they are aggressive fin nippers but I figure African cichlids aren't wusses either. Has anyone tried this before??

Tired of snails!!!!

Thanks for the offer. The pH might be a tad to high for it. I was hoping only to lower the tank down to 8. I might have to save up and get a couple of cockatoo syno's.

I will have to get that pass the partner first (might take a couple of months unless I can find some babies).

Yourself and bronze are welcome at any stage to cuddle Ymir. I might have to scab a ride off you one day (happy to help pay for gas) to come and do a Sunday Manawatu fish club visit, (especially, the tank crawl if there is one coming up again).

Ooo! you definitely should! :D :bounce:

That would be awesome.

PM firenzenz and ask if he ask some multipunctatus for sale. I am unsure about their snail eating abilities though. Small snails I presume will go down a treat.

Clown loaches would be fine in pH 8 but I don't know about them living or being happy in water with a higher pH (and the associated harness) than that because I've never tried it or heard from any one who has.
