mcrudd
Above is what my tank looks like currently. As you can see its got three plastic plants instead of live ones. The reason for that is I hardly ever switch both my lights on, during the day I don't even switch them on. I like to see my bristlenoses and chocolate zebra's and I only see them if the lights are off, or at night if only one light is on and not both. But as you can also see, the tank looks fake and borring. It used to be much more borring but I changed the gravel to the midnight fine gravel. So now it looks a bit better allready. My question is, What plants can I use that is easy to keep alive and maintain for a newbie. Phoenix44 mentioned that I should get some and I would like to give it a try
jim r
Java / crypts / sag / ambulia are all hardy and handle low light.
phoenix44
It's a blue planet tank yes? well the filter looks like its from a BP tank any how. Plants - Sag Subulata, microfolia Crypts - try as many as you can cabomba ambullia you can leave the lights on during the day as well. i have lots of plecos in my tank - even many hypans that are about as ahy as it gets and I see them all the time. I got lots of light too. Feed them during the day only and you will see them more and more often as time goes by.
John Rimbauer
I'd agree with p44. I have ambulia and cryptocorynes growing in a nursery tank that barely gets any proper light, and they look great. They don't grow as fast as the plants in the lighted tanks though, obviously. The filter and lighting is all that came with the original tank. I will go to our animates tomorrow and see what they have there. Thanks John and Jim, all help is greatly appreciated
SamH
That gravel is so tidy! When my Ambulia grows some more I can give you some free trimmings if you're willing to pick them up. Then you can see how messy the sand in my tanks is

(that is why its so clean) I would love to, if its not too far away from me.

My daughter is turning six on Thursday and we are expecting 20 kids I am extremely busy with arrangements.
