gagaforfish
Yay! I just set-up my AR-380. (my firsts tropical tank!) So far its pretty plain, I'd upload a picture, but I don't have my camera with me and its pretty boring anyway. I have filled it to the edge of the plastic, added 2 tsp of StressCoat and StressZyme. It has a 'pipe' ornament, but the bottom is plain. I am adding gravel and plants at some point, before i get my fish. My fish. I am planning on getting about 3-5 tetras, then a Siamese fighter. The pet shop had their fighter with their rummynose tetra, but they said it worked with their neons as well. If/when i get tetras I will watch them with the fighter as you guys said... So what do you think??? (lol, just alot of stuff that probably doesnt interest any of you but still! Im excited!)

phoenix44
I was so excited when I bought my first fish, I killed the whole lot  I think I bought 2 massive orandas, 2 velvet oscars, 2 albino oscars (oscars were tiny), a pair of convicts and a pair of massive angel fish
DennisP
Lol! I can't remember what it was like for me getting my first fish. But all new fish excite me now! Unless I've already got some of them or they are tetras.
John Rimbauer
Congrats. If you put up what part of Auck you're in you might get some people offering you cuttings or young plants - which will help speed up your ammonia-nitrite-nitrate cycle. Of course, if you're in Franklin, you're more than welcome to raid some of my tanks for greenery.

Adrienne
Congratulations. I just googled it and it looks a nice tank. I hope you don't mind a bit of advice about putting a male siamese fighter in the tank. From experience I have found that the male siamese fighters do not do well in tanks that run a powerhead sending water up to the top of the tank and back in through the overhead trickle filter which the picture seems to show this aquarium does. This is because the fighters natural habitat are shallow holes or the mud of rice fields. They have long fins and a long tail which means that when there is a lot of water flow they can not swim straight and often end up sucked against the power head. You may be able to adapt the tank to give areas of less current by putting in rocks and/or plants which would then give the fish a place to rest or the other option would be to use a different type of filter in the tank. When I had a smaller but similar style tank I used a sponge filter which was run from an air pump. Other fish will be fine in the current as will female fighters or short finned (plakat) fighters.
