Blue Moon
Just used this silicon to seal some dividers in a tank, it doesn't say how long till the aquarium can be used? Anyone know? Tanks :bounce:
Zayne
you usually just let it air for a while then fill it up then empty it and repeat a few times then sweet to go.
kiwiplymouth
You should give it a week to cure properly.
ryanjury
I think the general rule is 1 day per mm of silicone if I am just doing dividers then I leave the tank for a day or so in the fishroom (24C and dry with dehumidifier running) and then fill it have never had any issues, if it is structural or somewhere that may leak I leave it for an extra day. spoon
a question for you barrie the curing time you stated is that for strength of the join or to be "cured" to be aquarium safe?

I have after 2 days and did not have any problems but would recommend leaving it longer if possible
Barrie
the silicone can still be wet on the inside In fitting frameless showers with a track width of 18mm, I have still come accross silicone that is wet in the middle 4 weeks after being installed If its wet, it needs to expel fumes to dry (this is how it dose dry of course) These fumes may or may not harm your fish. It would be possible to have these fumes desolve into you water over a period of time and possibly slowly poisen the fish. The fumes may also either not be absorded or may not be harmfull, this is the descision you need to make
