jude
Does anyone use a python siphon? Are they any good? I am considering getting one to avoid having to make a hole in my floor and putting in a drainpipe. I refuse to carry buckets for the rest of my life  Cheers Jude

Caryl
Mine works well but is slow. I can put up with that though. Lousy water pressure (and a tank too far from the tap) means I have to siphon out into a barrel as the pressure is not enough to lift the crud from the substrate but the tank is next to the front door so I only have to drag it a short distance to empty. I can refill using the python but it is very slow. You have to remember to keep an eye on it! Easy to get involved doing something up the other end of the house and forget you are filling a tank with water.
cees
Where can I get one these days. How much are they?
Ira
I think all they're good for is the connection to the sink, otherwise, just run the hose out the door/window/whatever to drain it. YOu'll probably get more flow and not waste a million gallons of water doing it. Go to Mitre 10, you can get the right size hose for a buck or two a meter. Caryl
I have heard people say you can make your own with the things they use to pump water out of waterbeds - cheaper too apparently.
jude
I can't get it out a door or a window, would have to go too far
Ira
How far is too far? You could run the hose 20 meters if you wanted.
