livingart
it amazes me how you can describe something as rare and not give its scientific name to back up the claim it is rare
firenzenz
Could be anything. There were some peacocks that came in as yellow nyassae then renamed 'Cobue' that look like the fish in the pic. A group of variuos sizes was up for sale recently. Unfortunately that trader doesn't have a good track record for caring about the purity of the fish he sells. He also has a bad track record of listening so he may well have been told what they were. The fact you can call something rare when you don't even know what it is should tell you a bit. He has a track record of getting his stock off TM then reinvents them to something amazing. Not to say they won't be a pretty fish but for that money for one juvi. I would at least expect a name. Give him a bit of time and he'll probably find it one. His anthem is 'Never let the truth get in the way of a good story'.
ryanjury
Yeah it is unfortunate that he has to do stuff like this. As Alan said they are rare but he doesn't know what they are so how does he even know how rare they are? Could be very rare in that they are 1 off hybrids He has stated he brought them as a maleri which they don't look like to me either but who knows what they are.. They are probably the type of thing you would just sell cheap or give males away for display tanks as an unknown peacock..

smidey
we are very well aware of who he is, there have been many a discussion into the way he produces & sells fish. unfortunately it seems that he is the only one that thinks what he does is right. & as for the hand thing... huh? mine are hand reared
ryanjury
I grab fish out of nets with my tanks as long as your hands are wet it is fine.. No need to worry about these fish anymore they now have a name and another new strain of stuartgranti is in NZ

I'd be more impressed if at least he wasn't so singularly one dimensional and predictable. I hither too give myself the right to name all my fish anything I want and change them as it suits. Damn the rest of you and Damn any suggestion of my responsibility to any honest well intentioned buyer. Hither too I will call them 'Marks'. herefishiefishie
They are not these http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/species.php?id=1392 Sorry to say, this person is clutching at straws. Huge differences. Just to add Aulonocara stuartgranti are legal imports here in Aussie & there are non of these around. None in Asia anyway. If you have an importer who goes via Germany, then your luck increased a little bit. Hands are fine too if they are wet, probably easier on the fish than what nets are too.
