henward
Ok. setting up a new project. Discuss/Black arowana project - semi planted. Dont want too heavy planting and weighing up theoptions, heavy planting means heavy lighting = lots of money. i dont want to do that. was thinking: Tank is 2400x800x60 aprox 1200 litres. currently its got 2x 4ft t8 aqua glow. i plan on having black aro and discuss, will need to highlight the colours, and can only do that if i put more lighting. was thinkoing 4bulbs in total for this tank - will sufficiently show the colours of the discuss and black aro, with the white substrate silica sand, this will reflect more light up and making the tank look lighter. any ideas? i was thinking of t5, but fittings are friggin expensive! can i get these diy? or cheaper? i have metal halides from warren ages ago, havent used it, but they are 150w each bulb, thtas alot of overkill and power. what plants can i plant in there that does not require TOOO much light and easy to care for? valisneria? congo fern? because the sand wont be thick enough, i will have pots glass pots filled with sale wtih open bottoms to plant in. phoenix44
your tanks are pretty deep henward. I'd recommend upgrading your lighting. how ever you go about doing it eventually, you have to get the "tiger lotus" plant.
