ryanjury
I don't think that clown loaches breed and guard their eggs from memory they are egg scatters.. Also I don't think they are regarded as adults or mature until they reach 20-25cm+ how big are yours?

firenzenz
Yeah I would almost say you are almost describing normal behaviour as it is now, and depending on tankmates I've witnessed them disappear for a while. I think many loaches, catfish etc will be more gregarious and 'showy' when young and then get more hidey hidey as they mature. It would be interesting to see how active they are while you're sleeping. Still would be nice if something more exciting was happening under that wood eh? Southerrrngirrl
Turning pale can be an indication of stress. Is he getting harrased by any other tankmates perhaps? How does he look otherwise? Have you seen him eat? Also, have you checked your water conditions? I've noticed that my zebras and yoyos harass each other from time to time and as a result they turn pale and hide, but not for extended periods. 4 days of hiding sounds a bit more serious to me. Scottie841
All of our clowns like to hide and 4 of the for look normal but there is alsways one that is pale. I think it might just be something they do.
smidey
& they get "pailer" as they get older.
