JazzyJeff
This is my first attempt at DIY Co2 - Looks to me like all the bubbles are racing to the surface? Is it sposed to look like this? http://www4.snapfish.co.nz/slideshow/Al ... =SPIClink/ http://www4.snapfish.co.nz/slideshow/Al ... =SPIClink/ I have used 1 cup of brown sugar, (didn't have any white stuff) and 1 teaspoon of yeast, 750mls luke warm water in a 1.5lt bottle . As you can see I haven't planted the glosso yet, just getting everything sorted and deciding where everything is going. Any hints welcome
phoenix44
It will die down, but yeah initially it looks like that. you don't want it to continuously be like that, but is almost unavoidable in DIY CO2. unless you use baking soda? but i dont use that. phoenix44
just test the pH now, and over the next few days, and you will notice it is quite low. once its stable, add your fish if you choose to be that cautious. My puffer tank has CO2 running through the HOB filter, and the pH is near the 4.5 mark or so, and they are thrilled with that.

Aquila
Add a bit of baking soda to stabilize the reaction (especially if the mixture is frothing) or just reduce the yeast by a bit in the next batch. Looking good!
JazzyJeff
PS- the glosso will be happier if you plant it Smarty Pants! I am waiting on some riccia and more glosso b4 I start planting. I am being patient for a change (this has not happened before - I usually very impatient!)
