Dissolving praziquantel

I read that it's best to dissolve praziquantel in ethanol before adding to the tank. I also read that a good source of ethanol is vodka... is there a better source...? How's vodka going to effect my tank?

After you drink the vodka, you carnt see which tank to put it in, so the wrong fish get dosed.

I wouldn't think there would be much of a problem, if you use a very, very small amount.

I always just mash it up and dissolve it in warm water seems to do the trick?

I was told to grind it down to a fine powder using a mortar and pestle and then add a bit of water to further grind into a paste.

If it will disolve in water I would stay away from the vodka. Alcohol will act as a food and may cause a bacterial bloom. It has been used as a food to encourage the growth of good bacteria in filters etc but is also a food for many not so good bacteria.

I tested the vodka + praziquantel, dissolved really well. After adding it to the tank though it precipitated out a bit unfortunately. But probably to the same effect as grinding it up. Fish seem ok with the amount of vodka I used.

How much Prazi did you use with how much water?
