phoenix44
Apparently I'm going there tomorrow, so is there any thing relatively "aquaticy" related in there? I wonder if they would let me play with the animals or feed the animals etc.
Scottie841
I don’t know about feeding unless you take a small child with you for the lions I normally have a talk to the birds and give them a scratch but you have to be careful because the zoo keepers don’t like you sticking your fingers in the cage and some of the birds might want to keep your finger
phoenix44
I be one with the birds. I have to disinfect my self before and after I go there though.

stillnzcookie
Apparently you can pay to have a close encounter with the cheetahs, plus if you are there at the right time, I think you can help feed giraffes and stuff? We went last year when we were in Wellington, and they were just about finished building the new animal hospital/operating theatres etc. That would be the most interesting part, in my opinion, especially if they have an animal in for treatment. I don't remember seeing any fish, apart from a few sad-looking ones in the cafe aquarium, but there were frogs and lizards.
firefish
P44 I realise that you've already been but at 12.30 there is a public feeding of the giraffes (this is the only time that the giraffes can be fed as we have poisionous browse in the zoo too) Other than that one the other hands on things are the encounters (cheetah, red panda, giraffe and big cat) And at random times in the day guides will bring out reptiles for people to touch
