Interesting "snake stock market" article

Recommended Posts

those serious reptile breeders have to sell their progeny to someone and some animals end up with less serious breeders

the main thing wrong i see if the bill passes is all those worthless snakes

like when the ferret industry collapsed in this country and animals were just released to the wild

sort of defeats the purpose

only a % of the population will keep reptiles and once that % have got their reptiles market prices will drop

take redears in this country as a prime example once a good dollar to breed

blue tongues have dropped in price for young quickly because some want to get a quick buck

this years fad won't take long to drop in price

Is this Leopard Geckos and L46?

I dont see their prices dropping for a few yeaars. They are hard to source...

Then with the Leopards if someone works on a Morph then the bucks will go back up.

However yes if the bill passes many will be chucked into the wild and i dont see the prices dropping again, they may even rise as they will be hard t o source and will only go to serious breeders/collectors that know what they are doing.

when you have been round awhile you will see fads come and go

and prices go up and down

my personal opinion is that anyone who thinks animals are a good financial investment had better know their apples and be in for the long haul

well most people who try to make money from animals need to be set-up to do so...

L46 you would need many many pairs because they take 2 years to mature, have a MAX of 13 eggs per spawn and take a long time to grow to a sellable size

Leopards require expensive diets if your not set-up correctly, and again are slow breeders...

thought you said leopards could be fed on mealworms as a staple diet

well they can according to people who breed them on a commercial size
