mcrudd
If she is pregnant, will the male start cleaning a suitable place soon, cause now he is just hanging around in the kelp? just to add a question, what happens if she got pregnant for the male that recently died? Yes she is a bristlenose. I have had a spawning not so long ago by another couple and they spawned under the bogwood. I meant is she carrying eggs (pregnant) If she started producing eggs for the male that died will she allow the other male to guard the eggs, and will he show interest? You see the other spawning she picked him and he cleaned the bogwood inside out and then she became gravid with eggs and had them and he looked after them. Now the only remaining male just hangs around on his kelp plant as he usually did. He in not cleaning at all
xxdarnixx
the two i have only show interest in each other to spawn, other than that they dont go near each other,i dont think females are THAT picky,in saying that my gba stick to certain partners and dont wife swap i find it really hard to tell if the females are ful of eggs, they dont seem to get very big at all!!! mcrudd
is she really bloated? is she still eating and pooping ect... Yes I see her with long strings of poop, I always have fresh zuchini and they have bogwood, they also get algae wafers and protein tablets, which is all for constipation prevention. I hope she is going to be ok I can not handle another death now
melrick1
I have had this before and my boy died, but have heard of others that have treated them. Try lay odd the veg and feed the pleco tablets. I think it was the zukini that bloted a tank of babies. within a week taking them off it and feeding the special pellets they were sweet again, nice water change as well to reduce nitrogen
xxdarnixx
yea i have given up on zuchini too,i just feed algae wafers and fish flake, every now an then they get a slice of cucumber but thats very rarely,as a treat.
melrick1
Yeh, it deteriorates water quality fast also. So has its pro's and con's. Do you feed blood worm? This can cayse digestion problems but only if over fed tho... I hope she gets better and what we have said helps a bit...
mcrudd
Thanks for all the advice, I have removed the zuchinni and added an exta algae wafer, they polish it off quite quick. Did realise today though that my male is springcleaning the bogwood, so we will just wait and see. I do not feed bloodworms or any life foods as I am not familiar with them and heard that if not used properly you could give your fish swimbladder or in other words severe constipation. Instead I buy a protein tablet which contains all the vitamins of the life foods. I will keep you guys updated
Adrienne
Are you sure that the size of the stomach is not just the way its sitting - just like a guy with a beer gut slouched on the couch or (to keep the males happy) a pregnant woman trying to work leaning forward
