chimera
Is it worth while making a reef rack for the LR to sit on in a refugium? I want the "life" on the LR to seed the sand for now, but once shes up and running nicely, i was considering making a small reef rack and moving the rock onto it. The purpose is obviously to remove any dead spots between sand and rock, but is it really necessary? (I am also still considering DSB for the refugium too hence potentially more reason to do it?) Ira
That's what I'm planning on doing, whenever I get around to it to have the liverock lifted above the DSB. Was thinking I'd use some of the stack of UGF plates I have in a closet.
Pies
Same rules should apply to the refugium as to the tank as far as I am concerned. The rack just helps keep the dead spots down like you say. I also like the idea of getting the rock higher, as I assume you like me will be growing frags in the refugium too? My sump has a rack, but its the rack on the existing tank as its becomming my sump. Pie
RnB
why not just have sand then raised eggrate for rock / frags... ie rock has no contact with sand at all.....
