dwalk
I've just bought a GBK, about 5" from LFS. I've put him into my 160L community tank, which has GBA, Zebra loaches,, 2 pearl gourami and 2 bronze cory's in it. It has about 10 plants, and many nooks, crannies and tube shaped caves in it. My loaches aren't small, there mature adults, about 3-4" long. There seems to be a bit of a battle going on between the BGK and the loaches, do i need to be worried? I, and knowledgeable LHS worker, thought they would be fine, and suggestions?
phoenix44
don't worry about it
dwalk
says the man who sold the fish.... Nice fish BTW... Just need the Chocolate talking catfish etc to go with it. But once i move the Gourami, what fish do I put in for mid to upper level? there will be more plants and space soon, I will move the big pumice rock with caves into my 250L tank. dwalk
No worries Phoenix, I trust your advice a lot more than most LFS staff.
Mel
Your BGK will be fine in there - they will sort themselves out
snookie
if bgk was 12 inch i would be a bit concerned ,
DEE
if bgk was 12 inch i would be a bit concerned , ya concerned for everything else in the tank
bdspider
I'd be concerned once he starts growing. Lots of tasty snacks in there for him. + he'll outgrow the tank.
dwalk
Would the Zebra loaches be ok in there with him long term? I take it i should move my younger and breeding GBA? Another bigger tank is ready and waiting, or i buy a nice 300L or so tank.

dwalk
Any idea on how fast that they grow??? Excuse all the noob questions, i just want to look after him (her?) well. Any suggestions on what mid to surface level fish are suitable, I'm aiming for an exotic style tank, as opposed to a general community tank. Pearl gourami and the 2 bloodfin tetra will be moved soon. thanks, David
bdspider
Maybe butterfly fish for the surface?
N1CK
Slow LOL, another option for the top would be hatchets, or you could get a school of 10-15 rosy/gold barbs?
bdspider
They aren't that slow are they? A friend had some & I remember one grew real fast & one stayed smaller, but the fast one got to double size of other in not that much time. dwalk
I think the marbled hatchets will be a good fish for the top, so long as they aren't live food for the GBK. Other suggestions, anyone, for suitable fish for the mid level of the tank? Thanks all, dwalk
