Aquila
Hey, came across this great site which summarizes which rocks to use and avoid in aquariums. http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?/to ... -aquarium/
SamH
Thanks! Now I can refer my current rocks against it. I already knew which ones not to use, the ugly ones
Aquila
Haha True true. Also works for substrate in some cases...
Caryl
I was not aware you should not use marble in aquariums. They do not have schist or greywacke on the list either. Very common rocks in NZ and good to use.
Aquila
Me neither! Isn't schist just a type of slate?
Caryl
Slate is a sedimentary rock and schist is a metamorphic rock
Ira
Slate is a sedimentary rock and schist is a metamorphic rock Slate is also metamorphic, originally from shale which is a sedimentary rock made from clay. Schist is more of a structure of metamorphic rock that is highly layered rather than an actual composition.
