diver21
so ive had this tank for about 2 months set up as a planted tank but it just dosent look right, like it needs more plants. but as i dont know much about plants i thought i could leave it to you guys to criticise my work and make it better. so what plants should i add to this, i want it planted out a bit more, peferably so it blocks the background a little. tank is 1.6m long, 30cm wide and 40cm tall. lighting is 2 58w daylight tubes. and substrate is daltons aquatic mix and then brown fine gravel on top. occupants are 8 angels, approx 8 glowlights, 5 albino black neons, 2 golden tiger barbs and 5 bristlenoses filtered with a eheim 2213

diver21
plants in there are either java fern (which the angels have seemed to taken a likeing to) indian fern or the sword(?) in the middle
SamH
The foreground is a little bare.
diver21
i know, its only 300 wide, and the log takes up about 100 of it, was thinking along the lines of some sort of sag or hairgrass, i still want there to be some swimming room at the front for the angels
SamH
You could do Glosso or Dwarf Hairgrass, they both stay small and spread well.
diver21
will they stay alive in here of will i need to beef up the lighting? and when should you start adding co2?
supasi
Maybe some Crypt Balansae for across the back. Or Val. The lights prob not bright enough for glosso, May get away with hair grass. Dwarf sag is no as dwarf as people believe  Looks like it could have some great potential. Maybe some Crypt Affinis for across the front. Sends of runners and spreads but will stay fairly low with that lighting.
diver21
the balansae looks great for the back. With the affinis how tall does it grow?
xxdarnixx
what about that star grass stuff? theres some on trade me,it looks really cool
supasi
I have mine under the same lighting as you with daltons for substrate. They pretty much grow flat. Spreads out so will fill the area up for you.

phoenix44
That looks real nice! perfect for some rainbows with all that length! Try using Ludwigia repens for a splash of red in there too! Any reason the water level is that low or were you doing a WC?
diver21
its low at the moment to make it harder for the tetras to jump out as i havnt gotten around to cutting a new lid and no rainbow fish, its overstocked as it is, especially since massey pets closed down and david kept putting rams in my bag when i was there. stocking is: 2blushing angels 1peru altium 4 albino angels 6conchu blue tetras (from massey pets) 6? glowlights 6? albino black neon 6 golden tiger barbs 6 e.blue rams (thanks david) 3 black widow tetras 5-7 bristlenoses in there too. will be attempting to breed some of the tetras/ barbs soon, thats why theres so many varieties in there fattning up
