BikBok
Buying a new lounge suite and got a quote from JAE services that as a lot cheaper than what Harvey Norman quoted me. Has anybody used JAE fiber guard? ... is it as good as Soilguard offered by HN ? Every bit of savings will help right now!
Barrie
9 times out of 10 cheaper means less quality I have developed a method of glazing double glazed units into timber joinery. Using the methods I have developed, people can expect to get at least 50 years from then where cheaper (less than 10%) will probably last less than 10 years. I am lucky that most people have reconised this as the costs of building means that people are looking harder at what they get for their buck. Be very care full of cheap (and often nasty) Have a close look at how long the product lasts and at the maintence that you need to do. Have a look at how the product works as most of the time we simply look at $$ and not at if its what you really want.

JAE has a good name generally but I wanted to check up on the specific product fibergaurd which is advertised to do the same thing as soilguard. I was quoted $260 vs $414 so that's a huge difference, was just wondering if Harvey Norman was just putting on a huge markup for essentially the same product. I'm sure the don't apply it themselves so if I can find someone to do it for me and cut out the middle man .. it's quite a big savings to me . Was hoping to get bigger tank in the new house so trying to save $ wherever we can so we can still make it happen. Barrie, my husband sells high end solid timber flooring so i totally get where you are comign from with $$ vs quality and longevity. People just are not going to get a solid timber product for a veneer or vinyl price lol.
Barrie
I would deal with the carpet and fabric people rather than the furniture retailer if I were you Pleased you understand where I was coming from Whereas $200 may sound great, the $400 may be 3 times better
Caryl
I would ring an upholsterer's and ask them if they have any product they recommend.
supasi
With the Harvey Normans offer, are they providing some sort of Extended Warranty with their application?? Hence the increased price. This is the usual case in retail stores. We sell it at our work too( furniture treatment spraying with warranty). I may be wrong but I think you will find that the HN spray will be applied just before delivery to you( allowing it to dry first obviously) by the staff at HN themselves. There is a multitude of different products. My Brother is an Upholstorer and said most products are the same stuff, just different branding. In the end , its up to you what you choose.
