tinytawnykitten
Just wondering if any of you fix your tanks to the wall in any way, for earthquake reasons, and if so, how?
livingart
angle bracket and bolts to the wall
suphew
Yep, nailed, bolted, depending on what works best for the stand.
smidey
it would be easy to fix the stand but what about the tank itself? a tie down strap or similar around it & fixed to the wall?
livingart
if the earthquake can shake the tank off a well made and fixed stand you probably wouldn't save it anyway
smidey
if the earthquake can shake the tank off a well made and fixed stand you probably wouldn't save it anyway it wouldn't shake it off but the rocking back & forwards may tip it over is what i was thinking. I have a factory made tank/stand that in a quake may tip over forwards if it was bad enough.
Nymox
Its why when building my tank stand Im making sure there is a lip on the stand itself. so it would take the entire stand to fall over for anything to happen.
suphew
All my tanks have lips, but as has been said if the stand is tied down and there is still enough movement to tip the tank off I'd be more worried about the house coming down.
