smidey
they are good looking but need alot more food IMO, see how their heads are proportionally larger.
phoenix44
ha ha yeah, they are only about 4cm ish now. in a week they will be fat little puppies  . Maybe i should have more than 6 in my tank. 8 sounds good - they don't seem to hide so maybe they will bring my other chicken fish out and about. smidey
More fish often makes the hiding fish show themselves. I have found it really important to over feed juvies. I gave a friend half a batch of red zebra fry, i grew mine up as i always do (huge filtration & over feeding) & passsed them onto the pet shop. They sold & then the same batch turned up at the pet shop & they looked alot like those, an odd shape & alot smaller than mine were & didn't have the same colouring. I know they are fed the same food so its definately quanitity that makes a difference.
ryanjury
Cool fish, they should add a different colour to your tank and look good with the yellows and dems.. Did you quarantine them at all before adding them? Would hate for them to be carrying bugs and have your tank fall over.. Do you have any idea what they actually are? I mean Pseudotropheus isn't even used and they are basically saying they are some sort of snow white zebra?
phoenix44
I don't have the space for qt unfortunately, but these were qt'd prior to being sent to me. although I have never qt'd a fish  No idea what they really "are" but a snow white zebra sounds relatively accurate? does it? ryanjury
Guess it is a risk you take plenty of fish come sick as from wholesalers otherwise there wouldn't be tanks filled with sick fish in petshops.. Snow white zebra is about as accurate as any made up common name based on the fishes colour and shape not accurate at all.. It probably doesn't matter to you as you won't be breeding from them but I always like to try and find out what fish actually are..
phoenix44
but i do intend to breed from them eventually. As far as I know these are Pseudotropheus socolofi -albino ofcourse- and are the only ones known as snow whites? without getting into the nitty gritty of it - im sure every one in the country has bought fish like these as snow whites??? so if i sold them as snow whites surely that would ok? livingart
snow white zebra would probably nail it had these a couple of years ago and was told they had been crossed so no proper name just snow white being an albino it would be hard to tell what they are i'll tak some when they breed phoenix, they are pretty in the tank with that blue tinge they get dealt with a wholesaler a few years ago, i recieved a box of fish and so did a local shop was contacted a week later to find out how the fish were all fine no problems turns out the shop had lost most of theirs, mine were from the same shipment and tanks as the shops after some digging around turns out the fish person wasn't at the shop when fish arrived so they had been dumped in the tank with no float off period what so ever
phoenix44
LOL. i have another 6 coming next week (hopefully), so if they breed ill post em up here. (I only am breeding e. yellows at the moment). :bounce they are just so pretty with the bluey tinge and NON I-am-a-chicken-and-scared behaviour. Nymox
Yeah I love that blue tinge but its those red eyes that got me. I love albinos though so I guess I was already interested in these before I knew about them.

phoenix44
yeah. i overfeed them slightly. they look happiest when they are fat. especially the clown loaches. I love it when they sit at the bottom looking at me with round little tummies. my favourite clown loach even knocks on the glass to be fed and does tricks  I really like these so I dont really mind what they are called let us know if you get a successful spawn one day Im hopping in line now you are counting MY eggs before they hatch  I do like this fish. Im thinking a whole load of them over time will look nice too.
Nymox
Hahahaaa yeah Im a lil bit of an over feeder I guess, well all but my corys will feed from hand now so at least I know exactly what they're eating and keeps waste minimal. I know im a lil ahead haha, but just expressing my upmost interest and placing myself in what im sure is to be a long que
SamH
With fighters, over feeding = I've cut their feedings down to 1 a day but my CT is still super fat :-?
