Sicklids
Here are a few shots of my fishroom. This is a purpose built room that houses the bulk of my breeding tanks. Tanks include: 4 - 6'x2'x2' 4 - 4'x2'x2' 2 - 3'x2'x2' as well as several smaller fry tanks and tubs. HEATING The room has a very limited number of heaters in the tanks with the bulk of the tanks running on ambient room temp produced via a 7 fin column heater with dual temp control via the heater control and an external reptile thermostat wall mounted at the furthest point in the room from the heater. LIGHTING Some tanks have aquarium flouros fitted but the room has a double string of ceiling mounted flouros that provide adequate lighting for general viewing where as the individual lights are better for maintenance on the individual tanks. AIR SUPPLY Air is supplied from a hi-blo filtered air pump mounted outside of the fishroom to ensure fresh air supply. FILTRATION The bulk of my tanks are filtered via air operated Bio-Sponge Filters. These, when set up correctly with the right amount of air flow etc., manage to keep all but the dirtiest of tanks clean to an exce[table level. They are also one of my main sources of new fry foods as the fry love to nibble at the debris and resulting creatures that cling to the filter sponge. NOTE: I also have various tanks in varying sizes located through out the house. spoon
you are lucky we would like to be able to keep them as pets here but unfortunately they have got into waterways here and are now a pest and carry hefty fines for keeping them see here http://www.fnzas.org.nz/index.php?PG=PestTaskForce sadly the list of allowable imports gets smaller and amaller all the time
