Gizzygirl
I have just brought myself 2 new tanks $$$$$ but why not. My Dad had a tank many years ago the old steel frame & putty sort, lots of fun for Mum when the putty went hard & the tank would spring a leak . I have planted my big corner tank out & added 10 little neons not to sure what to add next, Discus would be nice are they easy to look after? & what other fish can I put with them?. My Grandchildren just love the tanks & ask are you going to get more fish Granma.
jude
Welcome to the forum. I'm sure you will get all sorts of help here, I know I have. Don't be in too much of a hurry to add fish - just add a few at first because the tank has to cycle .......... lots of information on that here if you browse through older posts. Cheers Jude

livebearer_breeder
welcome to the site Dont hesistate to asks questions, here there is no such thing as a silly one! think of us as a second family as for the neons with discus, you'll find if your buying smaller dicus they will be fine at first, but discus grow, and will eat the neons! i have a friend who has neon tetras in his tank, with discus, they get bigger than normal neons, and you shouldn't have a problem. discus are not the easiest fish to keep, and if your a "newbie" it would be an expensive lesson to learn if it didnt go so well! Cheers Shae

I think LB means Cardinal Tetras, similar colouring but grow larger As for Discus, they are beautiful fish, but wait till you have some more experience and welcome to the fishroom Mark
MorknMindy
Welcome Gizzygirl I am also new but the people here are great and have been very helpful. As far as the discus go I have heard they are a extremely fussy fish that likes things just right so I guess you should give then a miss for a while. I have neon and glow light tetras in my tank and have added some bristlenose and leopard catfish they all seem to be getting on very well. I found this link with a fish databank for community fish so you might like to have a look http://www.fishkeeper.co.uk/fishdataban ... asp?type=

Gizzygirl
Well I have added 2 Bristle nose cats & 1 Pelco to my tank today, while at Pet City I had a look at their Discus his mate`s are Cardinal Tetras. I have been testing my tank for PH it`s sitting around the 7.2 mark, for a laugh I tested my tap water just to see what the PH was, as we are on tank water PH 7.0. Cheers to All Gizzy Ps How do I get to the Chat room?
