to mount stuff

I am using Seallys Aqua Knead, its a green outer layer, light blue inner, smells real bad when mixed up but seems not to effect anything in my tank

Rubber bands... about $10 for 1/2 kg at warehouse staionary....

Using little bits of uncured rock that have semi cured in my sump for a few weeks, guess they are cured but pretty dead really.

Have fragged Zoo's, frogspawn, mushrooms by acident,

you take a perfectly healthy coral

and hack it into bits and stick them to rock in your tank, and all going well they continue to grow and you get lots of little corals that each grow up into big ones.

You often swap the little fragments (frags) with others to increase the different corals you have in your tank.

Alois suggested fragging his purple tang, I am not so sure...

maybe he has lots of spares

it all depends on what

for mushies i usually just cut it off and pu ta peice of rock on it upside down and it will attach in a day or two

if its something like xenia i use a toothpick and rubber band (a day or two)

if its polyps cut them off and use super glue gel,

i havent tried the epoxy cause i only have to stoney corals

  • 1 year later...

I have been fragging my pulsing xenia.

Started with one large piece, took a sharp pair of scisors and cut the coral into four pieces.

Placed them on pieces of live rock I had broken up and placed netting material around the rock and used a rubber band to hold it in place.

Placed them back in the tank for about a week.

Took the netting and rubber band off, making sure the xenia had fused itself to the rock and presto 4 pulsing xenia.
