SamH
I don't think it's the shipping that costs heaps, it'll be the Fluorite itself. Top quality stuff cost alot of money.

SamH
Cool, I'd like to see how it turns out. I've heard that it is VERY fine and rather light. I'd like it in black if I could get it or even dye some of the regular stuff.
Aquila
I bought the silica sand from Placemakers as well. I REALLY like it. Call ahead because not every placemakers stocks it. Of the 2 in welly, only one had it. They only sell it in the big bags, but if you find an opened bag, you maybe able to convince them to sell it per kg. That is what happened to me, there was a torn open bag on the floor and so I go only what i needed for my 40 L
wagonman
Is silica sand just beach sand but not as fine? well i rang around and kept getting the same answer "no", went to the quarry and they had all different grades of sand and we both really didnt no what we were talking about lol, but i got 25kg of 1 - 4ml sand for $11. diver21
sandpit sand? a friend of mine used builders sand in a native tank and they all did well with it. no reason not to use it, and it will look a bit more real than a bright white sand
