RnB
i found out yesterday what fish/corals cost at the international wholsalers...... finding out what airfrieght costs today..... Reef saying most of the imported cost is frieght so far seems correct.... most of the punters cost... appears to be markup just the threat of competition see's announcements of telecom proportions! Pies
Layton, looks like you have a pretty big spoon there yourself. Its an interesting post (although it is a stir). Would Alois be advertising 'big discounts' if JetSki hadn't started his own importation facility. Personally I don't see what all the drama is about, ultimatly its going to make things cheaper for us, and buy making it cheaper its going to make this hobby more accessable to people on tighter budgets. You would have to be blind to not feel the tension on this fourm around a few members, and its a shame. I am happy to just sit back and enjoy the low prices and increased varity of stock. I will support anyone who supports this hobby, just looks like I am going to have some options that I didn't have before. How can that be bad. lduncan
That's a very short term outlook on everything. Of course Alois wouldn't be offering specials if there was not another importer undercutting the market, because it's not sustainable. But everyone knows my position on this, so no need to rehash what has been said. Layton
RnB
I don't understand that logic..... if things where 1/2 the price, my budget would allow me to buy twice as much. I have yet to see many markets where increased competition has been to the customers disadvantage..... but DON'T get me started..... I just want to see the first shipment and see prices ACTUALLY change.... Peter
lduncan
the wholesale electricity market and the classic internet browser wars are two that I can think of off the top of my head, no doubt there are many more. This particular market has it's idiosyncrasies which in my opinion make it difficult to apply classical economic models to, there are always exceptions to the rules. Either way this forum is not the place for commercial propaganda. I'll leave it at that. Layton
jetskisteve
you can leave it how you like but i'm going to keep bringing it up until i see LOWER prices
RnB
but the question is how low the prices might get before even you start to say they are TOO low... 105vt's per KG is not a lot of dosh......
lduncan
you can leave it how you like but i'm going to keep bringing it up until i see LOWER prices Bring it up whenever you like. But this is not the place for it. Try the commercial forum. How about getting back to more interesting stuff rather than this rubbish. chimera
how about layton continues to pay ludicrous retail prices for livestock and equipment while the rest of us welcome some competition in the market place...

Pegasus
When will you guys stop acting like adolesecents and start acting like responsible members of these forums. You are "constantly" causing discomfort to other users of this site and seem to feel that this is the perfect place to settle your disagreements, and offend others livelihoods and companies.. You recently asked for additional forums to be added to this section, but yet you fail to to create the image that this site is trying VERY hard to preserve. Warnings have been posted to this effect, and although nobody has ever been barred from this site, there will always be a first time, and you guys are pushing the envelope. Your behaviour is placing the Saltwater Section in jepardy, the result of which is diverting both newcomers and regular users from these forums. Concerned Moderator. Bill. lduncan
hence my request for this thread to be lock and to return this forum back to what it was before all this started. It's just getting ridiculous. I refuse to post anything further on this topic or anything related to any commercial operations. Layton

Pies
Some debate is healthy and its obviously an important enough subject to generate such emotion in the people posting. Locking or removing the thread won't solve the problem, just delay it rearing its head in other forums/threads. Its unfair to have a thread removed just because you don't like the subject being discussed. Layton - A good move on your part, refuse to contine to post, removing fuel from the fire will ensure it goes out. Dissagreement and debate is important part of the attraction of places like this, remember in the end they are just opnions, its up to the reader to decide if they are going to agree with whats said. Its obvious there are 2 camps on these subjects, doesn't mean we can't agree to disagree, if you havn't noticed, we are all pretty stubborn and nothing you say is going to change anyones mind, regardless of how strongly you feel about it. But when everone is hiding behind a keyboard no-one will backdown and everyone wants the last word. We all know that we (myself included) would not act like this in real life, face to face. If people spoke to me in real life, then way they often do here, I would have no option but to kill them "Now, I want a nice clean fight, you guys know the rules, no hitting below the belt, return to your corner when you hear the bell" *ding* *ding* Pies
