Jaide
I have a tank that had some fish in which I've since moved to another tank - so this tank is now empty - has heater still going, water, plants etc. just no fish for about 3 weeks. I'm about to pick some fish up today and wonder if the tank will still be ok to add them to it considering it's been fishless for a while. I haven't made any water changes since I removed the fish before.
Mel
i don't see a problem with it - as long as your filter has been running all that time. I'd proberly do a fairly large water change first and keep an eye on water quatilty ie. amonina (sp?) etc...
LYNDYLOO
Have you continued to run a Filter?? Definitely check your Water Parameters before adding any Fish.
Jaide
There's no filter in that tank - it's a small tank but will accommodate the new fish (only 2) until I set their tank up (also getting a tank with the fish). I really don't want to add a filter as the tank is in my room and couldn't stand the noise at night. I changed the water about a week before I moved the previous fish out (5 platties). I may have to add them to my community tank then - I have angels in there and am getting angels today, just a bit concerned about the room in the tank and possibility of fighting. LYNDYLOO
Then I would suggest you do a Good Water Change before you add the 2 New Fishys. How often did you do a Water Change in the Small Tank when you had Fish in it?? Good Luck
Jaide
I water change and gravel clean weekly - and always a good water change. OK, I'll do a good water change and will add them in, thanks Linda

lmsmith
When I first saw this topic, I was concerned that you were going to let the fish flap around on the bottom. Glad to see there's water in it!
