GeeTee
I am redecorating a tank and was looking for some photos to make sure I like what I am considering.Thinking going for a planted tank with dark gravel.(Black or brown with no white) I have looked about in the photos here and found some, but I was just wondering if there is anyone with some new photos that might help me out. The tank will be a community tank with discus as the main feature.
Caryl
I like dark gravel as it shows up the fish colours better. Also harder to see algae on it
whetu
Me too. I relaly like dark gravel & plain dark background to make the fish really stand out under the lights. Sorry I can't help you with any photos though...
JazzyJeff
I have black silica sand in my smaller tanks - I love the look and yes it really brings out the colouring in the fish ... http://i771.photobucket.com/albums/xx35 ... 1246185793
Phantom
I've got a planted community tank with brown gravel. You can see the photos I posted here: viewtopic.php?p=426156#p426156 or http://phantom.bubbledome.net.nz/tanks/ if you are connecting from outside of NZ. darkfur
I'm told that darker substrates are nicer for the fish, if you have a light one it reflects up in a way that isn't common in nature and freaks them out

Phantom
Organisms sell it. I got that stuff 2nd hand, but it's the same stuff as I have in my other tank which I purchased from them.
Caryl
That gravel is the same as the one I use. All the Canterbury shops sell it and I believe it is locally sourced. I bought mine bulk from Redwoods.

GeeTee
The black is a very good look.Is it as glossy in the tank as it looks in the photo?Nice colour in the ram. The brown is very natural looking. Gonna be a tough decision.

I was pleasantly suprised!
