twinkles
I'd never seen them before but there's one for sale on that auction site, like a themometer sticker thing that shows ph instead. Has anyone got one and do they work? Reliably? Seems like a good idea.
Barrie
one of the problems is that if you see and look too closely at things like that, your forever trying to correct the Ph If your talking about your killis, do water changes and if they stop laying, check the ph and it will probably need raising. Other that that, leave em alone
twinkles
nope was thinking for my new tank, its 250L with assorted rocks and driftwood etc, will be running it empty for a few weeks and checking the ph before adding anything, but thought something like that might be useful to keep an eye on it after the initial period. I imagine the driftwood will lower it slightly and some of the rocks will raise it slightly, if it gets too low or too high i'd rather change the balance of stuff in it than start fiddling with the ph up/down stuff. Our other community tank i never test, it doesn't have anything in it that should change the ph and the fish always look happy so i leave it at that. paul_r
would be interesting to use, not that useing ph test kits are hard, would be nice to just glance at side of tank for a reading. not allowed on that site at work but what range of ph does it measure? might invest in one for my african tank

LYNDYLOO
I have seen a few of these being used in the Pet Shop Tank's, so I assume they cant be too bad Personally I do wonder just how accurate they would be, I guess the best way of testing them would be to put one on your Tank see what it reads then do a proper PH Test with a PH Test Kit. I don't think anything will give you a reading as accurate as the Test Kits themselves.
phoenix44
I've used them before in my tank at home. didn't think tooo much of it really. they last about 6 months or so, and for the price they sell for you are much better off with a wide range pH indicator that costs only $20 or so, and will last a lot longer than the badge. It is also cheaper Shops will use them as its much easier and faster to glance at the tank, and know the pH is stable than testing 30 - 40 odd tanks- its a convenience thing.
