Guest
I've been trying to breeding my group of BNs for a while now, but don't know what's wrong, I had a pair that are a breeding pair but then moved them to a 100+ltr tank with others and they stopped . I have a 6.5cm female, a 7.5cm female, a 13cm female, a 13cm male, a 11cm male and a 6.5cm male. The largest male just sits in his pipe all day while the other male sits on a peice of driftwood next to the pipe and the others hide swim around looking for food. What can I do to trigger them? I've done cool water changes, lift the filter and add an airstone so theres more oxygen in the water I feed algae tablets, courgetem, flake and blood worms. What else can I try to trigger them or do I just need to wait again?
Ira
Put them back in the previous tank on their own.
purplecatfish
Try adding more pipes so that the other males can have a potential breeding site.
Guest
I can't put them back in the other tank alone as it has platys in it. Theres 3 pipes and a pot so plenty of plaes for the others.

lmsmith
Go to a hardware store and ask for the section where stuff for temporary wiring in prefabs are kept. There's all sorts of boxes that are perfect for BN to have babies in. It cost me like $10, and now I have a million of the little things because they wont stop now! rox
Hi Cam, about 6 weeks ago I disturbed my Male GBA and his eggs (his first ever) then I did everything everyone tells you to do e.g. fed them up, cooled their water, added caves and nothing!!! Then I decided to do a change around and moved them into another tank, I also added more caves and an extra female. He chose an ornament as his abode and still nothing for another 3 weeks, by this stage I had given up and forgot to keep looking and then :bounce: last week I noticed him hanging in his cave more and last night he headed out when I put cucumber in and .... I could see "our babies" moving around, this morning I have baby GBA's all over the tank My advice - ignore them
