Saxsena
Will they live in tropical tank with normal tropical tank temp or die. Or they are just to survive in cold water? Just want to make things clear before I buy dome for my tropical tank. dont want to create hell for them as the burn to dead in the tropical tank. Thanks
Barrie
I belive that you need temps of below 24 cel The streams they live in here would never get above 20 Im guessing you mean the fresh water cray (Kuroa{sp?})
MarkLB
Freshwater Koura cannot live in tropical temps, anything over 20C is uncomfortable and over 24-25C will kill them. IME
Saxsena
Yes these are fresh water crayfish.
oeminx
Barrie is right that they need cold water and I would avoid anything over 20C Sp = Koura
Romeo
I've heard of Koura being kept permanently in water of 23°C. Probably speeds up their metabolism and makes them more prone to illness, but these one's had been raised from 4cm to about 15cm+, so it is possible. Problem is that they'll eat/destroy ALL your plants, climb out of the tank, attack your fish and generally make a nuisance of themselves. My Koura's fine though because I've got her in a coldwater tank with two 12cm+ inanga. They all get on well, but as she grows she gets more and more angry when they steal her food :]. phoenix44
warmer water also decreases their life span.
Saxsena
I have dropped the idea of having the crayfish as they will not live in the tropical tank. May be later whenever i have a cold water tank.
